L’arme del Rovere

A journey through the defensive and civil structure of the Della Rovere Fortress

“L’arme del Rovere”, This laboratory is a journey into the defensive and civil use of the fortress, where the children will take on the role of Della Rovere garrison soldiers that must defend the dukes, and older kids will face a series of challenges to obtain the title of nobility.

ACTIVITY A

the children will be invited to play the part of Della Rovere garrison soldiers that are about to face the assault of the Malatesta in the absence of Giovanni Della Rovere.
RECIPIENTS: Kindergarten and Elementary School 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade

ACTIVITY B

the kids, split into small groups, will compete in a team game which includes a series of challenges to be overcome. The winning group will be awarded the noble title of 1st Knight of the Order of Rovere.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 4th and 5th grade and Junior High School.

ACTIVITY C

after a visit covering the topic of the fortress as a defensive structure, the kids will help Riccardino defend Giovanna da Montefeltro from an enemy attack in the videogame “The adventures of Riccardino the Knight”..
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 4th and 5th grade and Junior High School.

Della Rovere and the Sphinx

Symbols, emblems and the feats of the Duke

Depending on the age, the themes of heraldic grammar will be addressed through the symbols, emblems and feats of Duke Giovanni inside the rooms of the fortress.

ACTIVITY A

A game activity that addresses elements of Della Rovere’s heraldic grammar with the help of Giorgino, a chick who lives inside the fortress and who would like to become a knight of Duke Giovanni.
RECIPIENTS: Kindergarten.

ACTIVITY B

An activity about the history and heraldic symbols of the Della Rovere house. At the end of the activity, the children will be able to create their own coat of arms on the basis of the heraldic elements found in the cards.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.

ACTIVITY C:

Activities on the history and heraldic symbols of the Della Rovere house and the coat of arms of Giovanni Della Rovere. At the end of the activity, the children will be involved in a hunt for the coat of arms in the halls of the Fortress.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 4th and 5th grade and Junior High School.

Tales of the fortress…

History between the Malatesta and Della Rovere age

After a visit to the Malatesta and Rovereto fortresses, the children will have to rebuild the maps of the Fortress and create a cardboard model, while the older kids, after a series of trials, will have to build a more complex model.

ACTIVITY A

Visit to the Malatesta and Della Rovere architectural building. Then, in the classroom, children will rebuild the fortress using a cardboard model while listening to a tale of how the fortress fortications developed over time.
RECIPIENTS: Kindergarten.

ACTIVITY B

Visit to the Malatesta and Rovere architectural building. In the classroom, children will be invited to recreate in a drawing, through instructions, the maps of the two versions of the fortress: the Malatesta and the Della Rovere ones.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.

ACTIVITY C

Game activity on the evolution of the architectural structure of the fortress from the Malatesta to Della Rovere period. The kids, split into small groups, will face each other in a series of competitions aimed at the rebuilding the fortress through a model.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 4th and 5th grade and Junior High School.

The faces of the Fortress

the Della Rovere family introduces itself…

Through this activity it is possible to get to know the members of the Della Rovere family. The children will wear the costumes of the characters at the Della Rovere court to celebrate with a Renaissance banquet the solemn arrival of Duke Giovanni and Giovanna from Montefeltro in Senigallia. The older ones will have the opportunity search for hidden letters or to write new ones, simulating the exchange of letters between the various characters.

AT THE COURT BANKET

The children will wear the costumes of the characters at the Della Rovere court to celebrate with a banquet the solemn arrival of Giovanni Della Rovere and Giovanna from Montefeltro to Senigallia.
RECIPIENTS: Kindergarten and Elementary School 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades.

LETTER HUNT

The children, split into groups, will be invited to search for hidden letters simulating the exchange of letters between the characters.In the classroom they will then have to put them back together and understand the roles and identify the characters of the correspondence.
RECIPIENTS: Elementary School 4th and 5th grade.

FAMILY LETTERS

After a brief intro on the characters linked to the Della Rovere Fortress, the kids, split into small groups and based on clues provided to them, will write letters that will simulate the exchange of correspondence between the characters.
RECIPIENTS: Junior High School.
